085 - Little Wind (Xiao Feng Pian)

Category.

Use of recipe according to traditional Chinese medicine:

-clears wind heat from the skin

-removes moisture and damp heat

-clears heat, cools blood

-harmonizes the layer of defense and nutrition

-stops itching

Description:

This 17th century recipe is one of the most effective for controlling itching in skin afflictions of dry, powerless eczema and urticaria or reddened skin manifestations in acne, measles and chicken pox. It can also help with ringworm or fungal infections of the skin, rosacea or when blessed with poisonous plants such as ivy or scurvy. It is also very useful in psoriasis, where a spotty bleeding appears after scraping off the upper scaly layer.

About a third of the herbs in the blend disperse wind and stop itching, a third clear heat and a quarter nourish blood and Yin - thus the blend helps harmonise the layer of defence (immunity - in this case the skin's response to external stimuli) and its nourishment. Well nourished and moisturised skin is then much more resilient and healthy to all external factors.
