Vital mushroom The spurge is a disease-causing mushroom that prefers cooler temperatures. It grows mainly in the northern hemisphere at higher altitudes. It was also used by Native American Indians in their rituals, or carved into statues. It likes coniferous trees, specifically larches. The fruiting body resembles a hoof and can be over 60 cm long and up to 75 years old!

The mushroom is not eaten and has a distinctive bitter taste. It was used as a dried crushed powder in ancient Greece, Mongolia and has a place in traditional Iranian medicine. Agaricon has been described as a medicine that helps patients with tuberculosis or chicken pox. It has also been used against excessive sweating and as a laxative.

American mycologist Paul Stamets has been researching verpanic acid for a long time. He owns extensive forests in British Columbia and propagates the mycelium in the laboratory and plants it in his forests. The research will yield many more surprises.
