Using the recipe according to traditional Chinese medicine:

Description:

Elephant syrup is used for shortness of breath and cough with damp white phlegm or asthma. This is a condition where the weakened Spleen produces pathological dampness which rises, produces mucus and weakens the Lungs.

The Lungs control the exhalation. The Kidneys control the inhalation. The weakened metal (Lungs) does not support water (Kidneys). Breathing is rapid and shallow with frequent panting. The lower airways are not cleared, chronic inflammation develops and asthma gradually develops.

The mixture is based on Su Zi Jiang Qi Tang's recipe, to which vital Reishi and Cordyceps mushrooms have been added. These strengthen the Qi Plic - providing the energy needed for smooth breathing. They also transform the mucus, which should be rather thin or thicker but white. The other herbs included such as mandarin pericarp and clary sage also have this function. Shortness of breath arising from obstruction of the Lungs by damp or cold will be relieved by perilla and apricot seed. This also slightly moistens the bowels, as does the fruit of the walnut tree, which in turn assists the Cordyceps in strengthening the Kidneys.

The main purpose of the mixture is to strengthen the Lungs, stop coughing and soothe shortness of breath or to ensure smooth and trouble-free breathing. This is why Elephant Syrup is sought after to aid in the treatment of asthma or to help heal after a prolonged cough. It is also effective for cold allergies and eczema.
