Spring allergies
and how to treat them
Spring is marked by the energy of Wood. It is a season of new birth and growth. The climatic factor is the wind, which gets everywhere and is constantly changing - getting stronger and weaker. Early spring is marked by a cool wind, and this tends to be a problem when one is very tired or exhausted. On the one hand, the sun warms you up, only to be cooled down by the breeze after a while. This places high demands on our defensive energy, which, among other things, regulates body temperature by opening sweat pores or, conversely, by warming the surface.
If you are very tired, i.e. weakened, then the defensive energy may not be strong enough to cope with these fluctuations. The wind gets in - under the skin and into the muscles, and the cold closes the sweat gates. The surface becomes poorly circulated, the muscles stiffen and a cold sensation develops. Sneezing occurs, and because the waterways are blocked, the nose starts to run.
First aid is offered by a tea of raw ginger, which opens the surface and by its sharp and warm nature expels the harmful substance. But the weakened man is out of luck. For him, the wind will sink in even deeper and the symptoms will be stronger. A stuffy nose, itching and more discharge (sometimes from the eyes) are the nightmare of allergy sufferers who realise with horror that their season is here again.
Let's face it, without vital mushrooms, it is almost impossible to cope with allergies that are already in full swing. The immune system is alerted and vital mushrooms can regulate it. The other substances contained also play a big role, influencing the psyche or cleansing the heat. It is the heat that results from the struggle between proper and harmful Qi and is not desirable. When else would he stand for a thick cold or red eyes.
There are several mushrooms you can reach for in case of acute problems. We will mention three. The strongest effect is Agaricus, in Czech Brazilian or almond mushroom. We have thought about the high concentration of active ingredients, especially the active beta 1,3/1,6 glucans , and that is why we have created the new PRO range. If you want a quick effect, then Agaricus PRO with 35% active betaglucan is the first choice. Generally a maximum period of use of two months is recommended, then you need to take a break. Incidentally, this period is usually sufficient to bridge an acute allergy.
The warm and slightly burning nature of Agaric is balanced by Coriolus PRO, which can clear the heat of the liver and finds its application in case of congested mucous membranes and red eyes. It is a versatile helper for both chronic and acute problems.
To calm the psyche (we say the spirit of Shen) it is best Reishi PRO. It also has a relationship to blood and Yin and should not be forgotten. It can be used not only when an allergy is already in progress, but especially well before the season. Ideally two months.
If you are one of those people who do not feel any more air flow or suffer from so-called spontaneous sweating, then the Yu Ping Feng San (Defensive Wall) blend is for you . It strengthens the defensive energy to prevent sweating and subsequent cold. Other indications besides frequent sweating at rest are pallor, weak voice, or worse appetite.
How to treat a stuffy nose? The mixture Te Xiao Bi Min Gan Wan (Jade Veil) helps to relax the nose, reducing itching, not only of the mucous membranes of the nose, but also of the eyes and ears. It also contains herbs that work with moisture. Dampness is associated with the feeling of being flushed, sinus clouding and headaches. So it not only addresses the suppression of symptoms, but also helps to clear it up so that energy and blood can flow freely again.
The mushrooms and tinctures complement Acerola, a natural source of vit. C. Its main purpose is to clear the heat in the blood as a result of the defensive Qi fighting the harmfulness. And it enhances the effect of vital fungi.
As already mentioned, allergies are the result of a weakening of the blood. If you adjust your diet, you are well on your way to getting rid of allergies for good. The food that makes you feel better than before should be well digested so that it does not lie in digestion for long. So take a break from fatty meats or foods that overwhelm you. Especially watch out for yogurts and fermented foods. Fermentation generates wind energy, and you definitely don't need that if you have allergies. On the other hand, prefer a slightly sweet and slightly pungent taste, such as watercress, chives or bear garlic. Forget tomatoes, your plate should be green with seasonal vegetables in spring. Sources of histamine such as fermented foods, tomatoes, chocolate, nuts stored for a long time, or wine are forbidden. With alcohol this is generally true, the allergic person creates enough heat and there is no need to add alcohol to the fire!
Easily digestible proteins from eggs, lean meats, or cheeses are the basis of the diet. You can lighten the diet with legumes, especially red lentils, always supplemented with a bit of animal protein. Our cuisine has a rich tradition in this, but thick soups also serve well. These will also replenish fluids and salt so that the mucous membranes can regenerate.
Suitable side dishes are cooked cereals, rice or sweet potatoes. Potatoes sprout and are unsuitable for allergy sufferers in spring. Rye bread is preferable, but do not overdo it.
What about dietary supplements? It doesn't hurt to take vitamin D from autumn to spring. Forgetting it is punishable by allergies, for example, and then larger doses are needed to balance blood levels. Zinc, an important element of mucosal immunity, should not be forgotten. There is no harm in taking it all year round.
To keep everything working as it should, keep an eye on your drinking regime. Drink a glass of pure water and welcome the beauty of spring without unpleasant allergies.
